Pantone’s Color of the Year, Greenery { Twin Cities, Minnesota Florist }

Hello again! Welcome back your favorite floral blog. (And, if we’re not, and maybe you just got here by accident–sorry. We didn’t mean to be presumptuous.) You probably know that us floral designers use color in almost everything we do. Every arrangement we create is based on color–and, every color says so much. We use deep red roses to symbolize love. We use orange, and yellow, gerbera daisies, for a fresh, happy, feel. We use white lilies to convey peace and tranquility; and, we use pink roses, and carnations, for a friendly arrangement–perfect for anyone. Color is a huge part of what we do, every, single, day. SO, when Pantone announces their color of the year, we listen–and, nerdily, we get a little excited, too. 🙂 This years color was exciting around here because SO much our daily life revolves around the color green–and, especially the ‘Greenery’ shade. (Check out the description below to see what we mean.) Pantone has a great Facebook, and Instagram page–if you’re a color geek like we are, you’ll love the pretty stuff they’re always sharing. If you find yourself inspired to add a bit of Greenery to your own home–stop in! We have so many gorgeous plants that will green up any space in your home. (PLUS, your home will feel springier and you’ll get to reap the health benefits. 🙂 )

For now though; here’s what Pantone has to say about their color of the year–Greenery. (This is taken from their site, which is here. You’ll also find gorgeous color palettes that work with Greenery, as well featured colors from years’ past. You can also find the color formula on their site–so, you can use Greenery in your online work, as well.)

GREENERY

PANTONE 15-0343

A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.

What is the PANTONE Color of the Year?

A symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.
